Rooney stays perfect in SCIAC, earns Athlete of the Week

ORANGE, Calif. – Freshman Adrien Rooney is a perfect 3-0 in SCIAC matches this year, earning SCIAC Athlete of the Week honors. The rookie went 2-0 on the No. 3 singles court this week over two national-ranked teams.

Rooney dominated his opponent from No. 4 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Friday afternoon, winning 6-3, 6-2 to tally Chapman's sole point of the match.

The Panthers then traveled to No. 13 Pomona-Pitzer where they fell 6-3. Rooney dropped the first set but fought back to win 5-7, 6-3, 1-0 (12-10).

The Livermore native has won his last four singles matches in a row and has posted a team-best 11-5 overall record in singles matches.

The Panthers hit the road on Friday afternoon but return to Lastinger Tennis Center on Saturday, April 13 to host Caltech at 10 a.m.
