Season comes to an end with second round loss to No. 17 Cal Lutheran
THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – The Chapman University volleyball team's record-setting season came to an end with a three-set loss to No. 17 California Lutheran in the second round of the NCAA Championships on Saturday night at Gilbert Arena. Chapman finishes its season 24-9, its most wins in a season since 1989 when the team won 27 games.
Cal Lutheran (28-6) defeated Chapman for the second time this season, winning in three sets (25-21, 26-24, 25-22). In the decisive third set, Chapman trailed early but tied the game at 15-15. Cal Lutheran maintained a narrow lead for the rest of the way to close out the win and advance to Sunday's regional final against Colorado College.
Junior OH Ashleigh Gideon had a team-high 12 kills to go along with nine digs followed by the 11 kills from junior MB Kate Ferrin. Senior L Alyssa Swatek had 16 digs in her final game for the Panthers.
