  • SCIAC recognizes 178 Panthers on All-Academic team, every Chapman team above a 3.0

    An impressive number of Chapman University student-athletes were again recognized for their work in the classroom. The Panthers placed 178 student-athletes on the SCIAC’s annual All-Academic team, the conference announced on Thursday.
  • Oliaro nominated for NCAA Woman of the Year

    Recently graduated women’s lacrosse student-athlete Tessa Oliaro was recently nominated for the NCAA Women of the Year. The NCAA announced its list of nominees in a release this week.
  • Wachtel, Mackin, Watts selected to IWLCA All-Region team

    Junior Becka Wachtel highlighted three selections from the Chapman University women’s lacrosse team to the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association All-West Region team. Wachtel earned First Team honors with seniors Kelsey Mackin and Dillan Watts joining her on the Second Team.

    Junior Danielle Zahn scored a hat trick but the Chapman University women’s lacrosse team fell 18-9 in the SCIAC Tournament title match. The Panthers made their second consecutive appearance in the tournament finale.
  • Chapman Athletics announces annual department award winners

    Chapman University Athletics celebrated all the successes of the past year with its annual Jog-a-thon on Friday and announced its annual senior departmental awards. The Panthers awarded male and female Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards, as well as male and female Leadership awards.

    Junior Becka Wachtel scored five goals to lead the Chapman University women’s lacrosse team to a 17-10 win over Occidental in the SCIAC semifinal. Wachtel scored three of a five-goal run that put Chapman firmly in command.
  • Six Panthers earn All-SCIAC honors

    The Chapman University women’s lacrosse team landed six selections on the All-SCIAC teams, announced today by the conference. Four Panthers earned First Team selections with two more being selected to the Second Team.

    Chapman finished the regular season in second place with a record of 10-6 and enter the SCIAC Tournament as the No. 2 seed, their highest seed since entering the conference five years ago.
  • Women's lacrosse falls in regular season home finale

    The Chapman University women’s lacrosse team dropped its regular season home finale 20-1 to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. With the loss, the Athenas clinched the top seed in the SCIAC Tournament and the Panthers clinched the No. 2 seed.

    Junior Becka Wachtel eight-goal week has landed her the SCIAC’s women’s lacrosse Athlete of the Week honors. With Wachtel leading the attack, the Panthers won their fifth straight and locked up the No. 2 seed in the SCIAC Tournament. This is the second week in a row in which a Panther has been honored as Athlete of the Week.
  • Panthers defeat Redlands on senior night

    The Chapman University women’s lacrosse team got a senior-night victory tonight against the visiting Redlands, coming from behind to win 11-6. Seniors Becka Wachtel and Stacey Zuppa led the offense on their night, each recording a hat trick.

    Last year, senior Tessa Oliaro spent her morning speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony for Chapman’s new Center for Science & Technology alongside then-President Jim Doti and then helped the women’s lacrosse team to a SCIAC Quarterfinal win just a few hours later.

    The Chapman University women’s lacrosse team routed the visiting Linfield College 17-1 tonight at Wilson Field. The Panthers were led by sophomore Danielle Zahn who had four goals on the night.
  • Women's lacrosse drops nailbiter to IWU

    The Chapman University women’s lacrosse team suffered its first home loss of the season in a tightly contested 10-9 match with Illinois Wesleyan. The two teams went back and forth late in the second half before the Titans pulled ahead for the win.
  • Women’s lacrosse shuts down NEC for 13-3 win
    March 12, 2017
    The Chapman University women’s lacrosse team shut out visiting New England College in the second half to hold on to a 13-3 win. The Panthers (5-1) scooped up 35 ground balls while senior Tara Sonnemaker made eight saves to limit the Pilgrims’ opportunities.

    Five Panthers scored at least a hat trick as the Chapman University women’s lacrosse team defeated visiting Whittier 20-11 on Wednesday. Senior Kelsey Mackin led everyone with five goals and the Panthers led wire-to-wire.
  • Mackin's record start earns SCIAC Athlete of the Week award

    A record-tying start to the season earned senior Kelsey Mackin a SCIAC Athlete of the Week award. The SCIAC took the first two weeks into consideration for its first women’s lacrosse weekly award of the season.

    Junior Becka Wachtel scored a career-high six goals to lead the Chapman University women’s lacrosse team to a 20-8 victory over undefeated Occidental College on Sunday afternoon at Wilson Field.
  • Mackin scores seven in home opener

    Senior Kelsey Mackin set the tone for the Chapman University women’s lacrosse season on Saturday afternoon scoring seven goals to help the Panthers to a 15-5 victory over Pomona-Pitzer at Wilson Field. Mackin’s seven-goal effort in the home opener tied the school record she set last season against Puget Sound.
