Fourth place finish for golf at St. Paddy's Day Classic
BEAUMONT, Calif. – The Chapman University men's golf team finished with a three-day score of 964 at the St. Paddy Day Classic hosted by the University of Redlands over the weekend, good enough for fourth place in the five-team tournament at East Valley Golf Club. Redlands, the top-ranked golf team in Division III with the top-ranked player, had both the top individual and team score.
Chapman was paced by the play of senior Van Pierce and sophomore Addison Devone who placed tied for 10th and 17th, respectively. Pierce had a low three-day score of 76 on the par 72 course on Saturday which was two shots of the lead for the day. The senior finished with an overall score of 232 which was 16 shots of the score of Jeremy Sanders of Redlands who won the tournament.
Devone finished three shots behind Pierce with an overall score of 235. His best one day score of the tournament was 78 which he accomplished twice.
Freshmen Rohan Bahri along with juniors Travis Walker and Jordan Siao finished with overall scores of 249, 251 and 269, respectively for Chapman.
Redlands won the team event with an overall score of 887 followed by Cal State Dominguez Hills, Pomona-Pitzer, Chapman and Whitman College.
