Shine joined the Chapman staff in 2012 having spent the past nine seasons at Santa Ana College where he served as wide receivers coach for several seasons before being promoted to offensive coordinator. Besides recruiting, his coaching duties at Chapman include serving as run game coordinator and offensive line coach. Prior to coaching at SAC he coached for three seasons at his alma mater El Modena High in Orange.

During his college days, Shine played tight end at the University of Nevada-Reno where he helped the Wolfpack win back-to-back Big West championships in 1995 and '96, including a win in the Las Vegas Bowl in '96. Before transferring to UNR, he played at Santa Ana College for two years. He was a tri-sport athlete at El Modena High in football, basketball and volleyball. He and his wife Ingred live in Placentia with their three children Tommy, Sofia and Trevor.
